A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Technical Tester/Compliance Officer to join a forward-thinking organisation based in Andover, Hampshire.

This is a role that requires a large degree of self-motivation to ensure that all relevant input to mandatory requirements for their products across varying international markets is understood and applied to the product.

Research into the relevant sources of these requirements is a daily part of the role as product standards, business regulation and customer specific requirements form a significant amount of the compliance required for us to serve our national and international customers.

As a Technologist, you will have a good technical background together with the ability to create technical policies, digest and interpret standards and understand applicable certification schemes and testing requirements.

Regulatory business directives are also key in this role and the need to ensure we are operating in a safe, legal manner together with our Corporate Social Responsibility programmes and other legal obligations and compliance will be part of the responsibilities of the role.

The ideal Technical Tester/Compliance Officer will be self-driven, determined and dynamic  with the ability to absorb detail (either technical or general) and apply this into policies, specifications, test requirements or business processes and systems.  Good communication skills are essential, with internal colleagues, external customers, industry peers and organisational bodies such as government, trading standards, certification schemes and test houses all needing regular contact.

Key responsibilities for a Technologist

• Manage vendor approval in all aspects relating to technical, ethical, social and environmental requirements.

• Responsible for all product approvals, external testing by independent bodies/authorities and product certification (eg. WRAS, TNV etc.)

• To maintain scheme certification such as Rainforest Alliance, FSC, Water Label, WEEE, WRAP, OPRL etc.

• Manage internal testing of products

• Responsible for all legal and mandatory/regulatory requirements for the company to meet its legal obligations both with its products and as a business (eg. modern slavery act, bribery act, CE Approval, CE Marking etc.)

• To handle difficult complaints/legal claims relating to products.

• Manage the product specifications for issue to vendors.  Helping in creation and maintenance of specifications.

• Provide assistance and advice for mechanical and functional aspects of all product packaging.

• Responsible for all technical advice/guidance on all electrical products.

• Provide advice and support for new products in the design process and to have input into sourced products to ensure technical compliancy and safety aspects are thoroughly reviewed.

• Support Marketing with technical input into all Marketing material such as packaging, brochures, web sites.

• Ensure all customer requirements in respect of vendor materials, compliance, audits etc. are fully met.

• Responsible for all technical, environmental, social and ethical policies and procedures.

• Responsible for departmental budgets and all associated costs directly involved in quality, compliance and testing
