Key skills required for a Performance Test Engineer:
Experience with one or more of the following tools: JMeter, LoadNinja, LoadUI, LoadRunner, NeoLoad or BlazeMeter
Experience of using SCM, GIT or Azure Repo
Understanding of web technologies XML, HTML, JavaScript, PHP, Java etc.
In depth understanding of Web API testing using SoapUI, Postman and Swagger
Able to understand SQL commands, to successfully interpret the results of testing on the database information
Professional experience with QA tools like Azure DevOps, requirements management tools, issue tracking tools e.g ADO
Experienced in testing techniques/practices such as Behaviour Driven Development (BDD), Test Driven Development (TDD), etc.
Experience testing software in a true agile delivery environment
Experience of Selenium (WebDriver)/Cucumber JVM or equivalent
Experience of implementing performance test best practices
Experience of the full software development lifecycle, used to working on both medium and large-scale projects
Accomplished at running both manual and automated testing
Strong technical and analysis skills to implement test plans and scripts, including capturing and amending automated scripts, use of files for data driven testing, and operation of testing tools
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Key responsibilities for a Performance Test Engineer:
Create test plans, test reports and test scripts, utilising tools to measure, detect, isolate, and resolve performance issues from performance, availability and resilience, operability and latency to meet particular criteria
Use and apply expertise in performance testing practices and to the execution and improvement delivery quality
Ensuring integration of performance testing with the automation test approach and analysing NFRs, technical designs and business requirements
Create reusable performance test packs to run before any live release, including maintaining and updating the performance test pack when required
Drive the resolution of issues; being accountable for testing results and helping to maintain delivery quality
Facilitate process and design changes by conducting business and systems related testing; including testing coverage, test plans, development and running of scripts; ensuring data is reliable and valid
Take ownership of tasks and help other team members
Communicate and manage relationships and expectations, to keep others up to date on testing progress, issues, etc.
Stay current with testing and test tools needs and strategies; utilising formal and informal communication methods to communicate updates and findings
Facilitate project meetings to update key stakeholders
Provide support for team members and peers by collaborating with others, articulating ideas and viewpoints
Partner with internal and external customers, to ensure testing aligns with the business strategies
