A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced ICT/IT Support Technician to join a well-established school, based in Reading.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident IT support Technician that has the ability to explain technical problems in layman's terms.
To be considered for this ICT Support Technician role you will have most of the following skills/experience
Experience of working in an education environment would be a huge advantage
Experience in a helpdesk operation
Systems administration
Configuring computer hardware and software
Microsoft including Office365, SharePoint, System Center and Server 2012
Experience in iOS/Android MDM integration
Understanding of client/server architecture
In depth knowledge of computer systems/networks and a range of software applications
Technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems in particular for managing and configuring authority and school-wide LANs, WANs, VLANs, WLANs, VPNs, etc.
Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware such as servers, routers, bridges, switches, hubs, modems, network interface cards
VMware support and administration
Powershell scripting
Configuration and maintenance of Windows Servers and Active Directory
Knowledge of DHCP/DNS/Active Directory /Group Policy
Knowledge of Azure Active Directory and Intune
Key responsibilities for an IT Support Technician:
To ensure the smooth running of supported IT systems.
To ensure the security of all IT hardware through regular software updating and firmware patching.
To provide outstanding, proactive, accessible support to all users.
To oversee support to users via the helpdesk system.
To resolve more complex and larger impact issues.
To provide support to first line technicians.
Ensure that all the schools IT systems are fully operational within the SLA.
Assist with the Maintenance and periodic testing of the backup and disaster recovery plan.
Maintain the schools anti-virus system.
Provide support and maintenance of systems.
Perform and support upgrades of infrastructure as required.
Upgrade relevant systems out of normal business hours to ensure downtime for staff and pupils is minimised.
Ensure efficient running of all servers, infrastructure and end user devices throughout school.
Perform advanced device repairs and upgrades
Have a good base knowledge and advanced technical understanding of Windows Desktop, Windows Server, Microsoft365, VMware ESX, HPE/Aruba Switching, Wireless networking,
VLANs.
